エクスパンデッド・シネマとジェネラルアイデアをみに恵比寿まで。連れ曰く、透けてくる光の美しさか、エクスパンデッド・シネマは程よい感じで拝見。３台のフィルムプロジェクタを独りで操るエクスパンデド歴３５年の老雄ディルク・デ・ブリュイン。彼のさけび・パフォーマンスがきれいな抽象動画との対極をいってて楽しめました。大音響にまぎれて一緒に叫んできました。

Thinking as you watch, is different from thinking about what you watch.

“visual philosophy” is a term/concept suggested by Japanese video artist Masayuki Kawai. The term is in contradiction. Because thinking require language but seeing not. One must “do philosophy” by thinking with help of words/language.

But this contradiction may be a key to deepen video aesthetic. There is link between vision and language. Some prehistoric studies claim our present language can be traced back to pictorial language and mythologem.

Can I “do philosophy” in mythologic way? Or can we turn the “visual” into something like be a pictorial language and phonetic alphabet? This will be a topic of tomorrow.
